We do not collect any personal data. SoundDrift is an open-source application designed to stream audio from your Android device to your computer over your local network.

  • Local Network Transmission: All audio data is transmitted directly between your devices over your local Wi-Fi or USB network. No audio data is uploaded to any external servers.
  • No Analytics: We do not use third-party analytics services to track your usage of the application.
  • No Account Required: You do not need to create an account to use SoundDrift.

Permissions

To function correctly, the SoundDrift Android app requires specific permissions:

  • Record Audio: Required to capture the system audio output for streaming. This audio is processed locally and streamed directly to your connected client. It is never stored or sent to third parties.
  • Network Access: Required to transmit the audio stream over your local network to the connected computer.
  • Foreground Service: Required to keep the audio streaming active while the app is in the background or the screen is off.

Data Security

Since we do not collect or store your personal data, there is no risk of your data being breached from our servers. The security of your audio stream depends on the security of your local network. We recommend using a secure (WPA2/WPA3) Wi-Fi network.
