Introduction
NoteGuard ("we," "our," or "us") is dedicated to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy outlines how your information is handled when you use the NoteGuard mobile application.
Our core philosophy is simple: Your data belongs to you. NoteGuard is designed as an offline-first application with on-device AI processing. We do not collect, store, or transmit your personal notes or audio recordings to any cloud servers.
Data Collection and Usage
We do not collect any personal data. All data created within the app remains stored locally on your device.
- Notes and Content: Texts, images, and other content you create are stored in your device's internal storage and are encrypted where applicable.
- Audio Recordings: Voice notes are processed locally using on-device AI models (like Whisper) and are never uploaded for transcription.
- AI Processing: All AI features, including summarization and chat, run entirely on your device using local LLMs. No data is sent to external APIs (like OpenAI or Gemini) unless you explicitly configure a third-party extension (if available in future updates).
App Permissions
NoteGuard requires certain permissions to function correctly:
- Microphone: Required solely to record audio for voice notes and transcription. Audio data is processed in real-time on your device.
- Storage: Required to save your notes and backups to your device.
- Biometrics: Required if you choose to lock your notes or the app. Biometric authentication is handled by the Android system; we do not store your fingerprint or face data.
Third-Party Services
Since NoteGuard functions offline, we do not integrate with third-party tracking or analytics services that collect usage data.
